In the Hermès scarf world, I might be what you’d call an anti-grailer.
I know that is a bold statement, so let me explain. I respect the market, I respect my elders and I understand why certain scarves have been given the “grail” title over the years. Well, sort of.
This Substack is going to be a little different than my others. It is going to be a little more rambling, a little more of an internal debate, and I am taking a break from my usual ephemera theme for a moment.
In my last Hermès scarf restock on Wednesday, I had three scarves offered in the auction portion (here, here and here). None of them were technically considered grails, but the prices they brought could rival any technical grail. So not to sound like Carrie Bradshaw, but I couldn’t help but wonder if we are finally seeing a major shift in the market.
