Of course Hermès isn’t following me, but…

Here’s what I wasn’t expecting when I opened this edition of Le Monde d’Hermès. I wasn’t expecting to feel like I was piecing together an Hermès detective case I had already started in real life. When the Spring/Summer issue arrived, I sat down with it the way I always do (well, technically, I snuck a peek while I was still inside the Madison Avenue boutique), ready to take in the styling, spot a scarf or two, and see what little surprises might be tucked inside. But as I turned the pages, it started to feel familiar in a way I just couldn’t ignore. Not just in the “I’ve seen that scarf before” kind of way, but more like, wait, that’s the exact bag I was offered. That’s from the pop-up I visited. Those are the scarves I packed.

It felt like the issue was filled with clues, and if you know me, you know I never miss a chance to play Hermès detective. From the boutique to the Mystery at the Grooms pop-up to things I brought from home without thinking twice, I kept spotting pieces of my own experience on pages. Even my dream bag, the one I didn’t even expect to see let alone take home, ended up right there, styled and photographed in issue No. 86.

This isn’t a full review of the issue. It’s more of a story about how a couple days in New York ended up overlapping with one of Hermès’ most fun issues yet. If you’ve ever found yourself following clues like this or just want to watch me do it, I think you’ll get it.
