Part 2: FW'96 Le Monde d'Hermès: 1996 Was Elite
Music in everything
It started with a Birkin on the beach. No jewelry, no perfectly tied Twilly, no fanfare, just the bag. Sun-soaked and standing on its own. I turned the page and couldn’t stop thinking about it. The whole issue had that energy. Bold but relaxed, styled but never overthought. And last week’s post? We only made it halfway through this issue of L’Monde de Hermès.
This week, we’re picking up where we left off. There’s music in this one, literally and metaphorically. A leather workshop becomes a concert hall. A seventy-something Bauhaus-trained architect starts building instruments no one had ever seen before. Rhythmic, hand-etched, design in the Touareg line. Even the scarves have a sound if you know how to listen.
It’s a story about design, about aging dreams, about the way an Hermès glove and a Birkin coordinate in perfect harmony and it’s all in the second half. Come see what I found.
